I am building shelves to sore our survival gear and food rations plus setting up space for my office.
I got the chainsaw lumber mill fired up and cut the live edge slabs out of a piece of poplar which I had set up on there.
I am setting up a 6 foot long by 6 foot high by 22 inch deep set of shelves in a spare room of our tiny house. This will hold our survival gear and food rations all in one place. This will give us a better overview of what we have on hand.
My office will also be in the same room. The survival gear and rations will make a cool backdrop for my tactical and survival videos anyway.
I went out to the wood shop and decided to give the chainsaw on the mill a pull. It fired right up. The day was warmer but it was raining outside so I did not have my camera with me. And I was not planning to be running the mill at the time either. But when it ran, I cut up the live edge slabs from the poplar log that I had on the mill. I ran it till the engine ran out of gas. I guess it somehow had ice in the carb which did not allow any fuel to pass through. That is part of the reason I ran it dry while I had it running.
The slabs look nice. I hope to fast dry them inside our off grid tiny home so I can prepare them as gifts for family and friends this winter.
We are burning through fire wood pretty fast this year. We used about two full cords of fire wood already. I hope we have enough for the entire season. I figure we have about four more cords of fire wood yet to process here in the yard. And I will keep cutting dead standing trees out of the woods all year to ensure we do not run out of fire wood.
